Study in Singapore with EduTrust Certification

1. WHAT IS EDUTRUST CERTIFICATION?

All private educational institutions in Singapore (PEI - Private Education Institutions) are required to register with the Committee for Private Education (CPE) in order to operate in Singapore.

EduTrust certification is awarded to quality private schools in Singapore. Since 2010, the CPE has been issuing the EduTrust certification (formerly known as CaseTrust) to private educational institutions in Singapore.

2. TYPES OF EDUTRUST CERTIFICATION

Depending on the level of management and the quality of educational services provided, private educational institutions can be awarded different levels of EduTrust certification. There are three levels of EduTrust certification as follows:

a. EDUTRUST STAR

• Requirement: Schools must achieve at least 750 points (out of 1000 points).
• Target: Awarded to private institutions that excel in all important areas and comply with the regulations for providing quality education services in Singapore. This award is a symbol of recognition for continuous efforts to improve and advance the institution.
• Validity: EduTrust Star is valid for 4 years.

b. EDUTRUST

• Requirement: Schools must achieve between 600-749 points.
• Target: Awarded to private institutions that demonstrate commendable achievements in all areas of management and quality education services.
• Validity: EduTrust is valid for 4 years.

c. EDUTRUST PROVISIONAL

• Requirement: Schools must achieve between 500-599 points.
• Target: This certification is for institutions that meet the minimum requirements for quality education services. To be granted this certification, institutions must show awareness of the need for improvements in management practices and service regulations.
• Validity: EduTrust Provisional is valid for 1 year.

Private educational institutions must achieve a minimum of 500 points on the overall evaluation scale to receive EduTrust certification. For institutions with EduTrust Provisional (valid for 1 year), they must achieve EduTrust (above 600 points) upon the second renewal; otherwise, the certification will become invalid. Thus, EduTrust Provisional is granted for a maximum of 2 consecutive years.

   • Admission systems
   • Student support and protection services
   • Training processes and student achievements
   • Health insurance provision
   • Full compliance with EduTrust conditions and terms

EduTrust is a certification that contributes to enhancing the reputation of Singapore’s educational system and ensures the protection of both domestic and international students' rights.

4. HOW TO CHECK IF A SCHOOL'S EDUTRUST CERTIFICATION IS STILL VALID?

It is crucial for international students to verify whether an institution’s EduTrust certification is still valid. Some institutions that have received EduTrust certification but fail to meet quality standards may be removed from the list before the expiration date.
